In April 1981, Deputy Wall unlawfully arrested Donnie Ross without proper legal authority, leading to a false arrest claim. During the arrest, Wall physically seized and fought with Ross, resulting in a battery charge. The court found Wall and his employer, Sheriff Duffy Breaux, liable for damages due to the false arrest and battery.
