Deputy Involved in Kevin M. Davis Incident – Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office

In June 2006, Kevin M. Davis filed a lawsuit against members of the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office, alleging excessive force during his arrest. Davis claimed that while he was sleeping in the woods, deputies released a K-9 without warning, which mauled him and dragged him from his sleeping spot. Davis alleged he was unarmed and not acting aggressively. Despite his serious injuries, deputies walked him out of the woods and took him to Kootenai Medical Center for treatment. The lawsuit sought damages for the injuries sustained.
