In June 2023, Deputy Michael Davis struck Tyrone A. Jones multiple times during an eviction in Baltimore’s Cherry Hill neighborhood. The Baltimore City Sheriff’s Office deemed his actions reasonable, citing Jones’ resistance and the presence of unsecured firearms. However, the Administrative Charging Committee found the force excessive and lacking de-escalation efforts, sustaining three administrative charges. Davis lost three days of leave as a result. Jones filed a federal civil rights lawsuit in March 2024, alleging unprovoked physical abuse and wrongful arrest. He was incarcerated for seven months before charges were dismissed in January 2024. The lawsuit is ongoing.
