Over the past decade, the Baton Rouge Police Department has faced numerous allegations of misconduct, including excessive use of force, illegal searches, and abuse of detainees. The ‘Brave Cave’ facility became a focal point for such allegations, with lawsuits claiming it was used for violent interrogations and strip searches. In response, the department disbanded the Street Crimes Unit and closed the facility. Multiple officers have been charged with malfeasance, battery, and obstruction of justice. The department has initiated several administrative and criminal investigations to address these issues and restore public trust.
