Over the past decade, the Lincoln Police Department has faced multiple allegations of systemic harassment, discrimination, and retaliation. At least six lawsuits have been filed by current and former officers alleging sex-based discrimination and retaliation. The city has paid more than $3.5 million to resolve six of these lawsuits, with at least six more pending. The department has implemented policy changes to address these issues, but challenges persist in transforming the department’s culture.
