In recent years, the West Palm Beach Police Department has faced multiple allegations of misconduct among its officers. Notably, in October 2024, seven officers were placed on administrative leave related to allegations of overtime and financial misconduct. The State Attorney’s Office Public Corruption Unit is investigating at least half a dozen officers for possible criminal charges. Additionally, the department has faced lawsuits alleging excessive use of force, including the case of Officer Nicholas Lordi’s alleged assault on a 67-year-old man, resulting in significant injuries. These incidents have raised concerns about patterns of misconduct, use-of-force incidents, and potential department-wide corruption or scandals.
