Dominic Balletto Jr. – Connecticut State Marshal

In May 2022, State Marshal Dominic Balletto Jr. was scrutinized for allegedly charging excessive fees in foreclosure cases. In one instance, he charged $340 for serving legal papers, at least $100 more than the maximum allowed by state law. Balletto claimed the case was complex, requiring visits to multiple locations, and stated his bill was commensurate with the service. However, the Yale Law School housing clinic filed formal complaints against him and other marshals for routinely overcharging, leading to ongoing investigations by the State Marshal Commission.
