Written by In December 2016, Chief Doug Fuchs was involved in an incident where he allegedly prevented an EMT from properly assessing an injured woman at an accident scene. Additionally, he was accused of coercing Officer Anthony Signore to sign a statement supporting his account of the incident. An investigation found that while most allegations were unfounded, Fuchs exercised poor judgment by involving Signore and smeared the EMT’s reputation in his response. In April 2016, Fuchs faced a lawsuit from the family of Peter Valenti, who committed suicide. The family claimed that Fuchs and other officers delayed medical attention, leading to Valenti’s death. Fuchs was placed on paid administrative leave in October 2017 and resigned in July 2018.
