Create And Track Police Department History
In June 2017, Officer Carlton Howard was involved in the fatal shooting of Aaron Bailey, an unarmed Black motorist. After a traffic stop, Bailey fled and subsequently crashed his vehicle. Howard and another officer, Michal Dinnsen, approached and fired at Bailey, who was later found to have been shot four times in the back. A special prosecutor declined to file criminal charges, but in October 2017, Police Chief Bryan Roach recommended Howard’s termination for failing to adhere to department training and policy during the incident.
