KeymasterSheriff Tracy White: Sheriff White is under indictment and facing calls to resign due to a bizarre off-duty confrontation. In May 2024, White (who has been Todd County’s sheriff since 2019) got into a heated altercation with a private citizen (Adam Weatherford) at Weatherford’s home in Logan County. The dispute – reportedly over an incident involving their children – was captured on video and later posted to YouTube

. In the footage, an apparently intoxicated Tracy White (in plain clothes) can be seen on the man’s doorstep, arguing and allegedly making threats

. Weatherford claims that White even struck him during the confrontation

. Local prosecutors took the matter to a grand jury, and in December 2024 Sheriff White was indicted on charges of Harassment and Menacing (both relatively low-level offenses)

. The indictment specifies that White “committed the offense of harassment and the offense of menacing on May 3, 2024” at Weatherford’s residence

. Essentially, he is accused of threatening and intimidating the citizen. Notably, no assault charge was included, perhaps due to insufficient evidence of injury, but Weatherford publicly criticized the limited charges as a “slap on the wrist”

. The fallout has been significant: A judge issued an emergency protective order against Sheriff White (barring contact with the victim)

, and the case was assigned to a special prosecutor in a neighboring county to avoid local conflicts

. Despite the indictment, White has refused to step down as sheriff

. As of the latest reports, he pleaded not guilty and is awaiting trial. The video evidence is damning in the court of public opinion – it apparently shows White yelling “do you want to fight?” and behaving aggressively on a citizen’s property (all while off-duty)

. This conduct led the Kentucky State Police to investigate their own sheriff. If convicted of menacing or harassment, White could face fines and up to 90 days in jail on the misdemeanor. More importantly, he’d almost certainly be removed from office. Even short of conviction, these actions constitute official misconduct in the eyes of many: Weatherford and others argue White violated the law he’s supposed to uphold

. In sum, Sheriff Tracy White is embroiled in a personal misconduct scandal – threatening a private citizen – which has resulted in criminal charges against him and tarnished the Todd County Sheriff’s Office’s reputation. -
