On November 26, 2010, while off-duty, Deputy Watford, along with Deputy Kirby Dollar, assaulted a handcuffed man, Patrick Harrington, who was lying on the ground and not resisting. The assault resulted in multiple lacerations, facial fractures, and a ruptured eardrum for Harrington. Watford was convicted of willfully depriving Harrington of his constitutional rights and faced a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
