    In February 2020, Assistant Police Chief Jeff Buckles posted a Facebook comment suggesting harm to Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other Democrats, stating, ‘Pelosi just ripped up his speech. Road Side bomb on her way home and any other Dumbocrats.’ Following public outcry, Buckles was placed on paid administrative leave. Despite issuing an apology, the Geraldine Town Council voted 5-1 to terminate his employment on March 3, 2020.
