In 2019, Officer Hicks conspired with fellow officer Nathaniel T. Miller to conceal their extramarital relationship. Initially denying the affair during internal investigations, both later admitted to the relationship, with Miller confessing to engaging in sexual conduct while on duty. Hicks resigned in May 2020. The Arizona Peace Officer Training and Standards Board initiated proceedings against her certification in January 2021.
