Former Chief of Police Damien Steele was sued by Lucinda Shelton in August 2023 for multiple counts of misconduct, including assault and battery, malicious prosecution, and false imprisonment. The lawsuit alleges that on February 18, 2020, Steele, along with Officer Lonnie Glenn, entered Shelton’s home without a warrant, physically assaulted her, and arrested her without probable cause. Shelton was charged with harassment, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct, but the case was dismissed in May 2023, with the court stating that there was no lawful arrest being made and that Shelton had the right to resist an unlawful arrest. Steele is no longer employed with the City of Marion.

Our Mission

We're building a comprehensive database of police interactions to promote accountability and transparency in law enforcement.

  • View the Blog: Read about documented police interactions
  • Share Your Experience: Submit your own police interaction story
  • Browse the Forums: Check if your local law enforcement has been documented

Important Community Guidelines

It is strictly against our rules to:

  • Make threats of any kind
  • Share private information such as personal emails, home addresses, or phone numbers

Why This Matters

By organizing this data, we can potentially demonstrate when officers were previously aware of laws they later claim ignorance of, challenging qualified immunity defenses and promoting accountability.
