In March 2010, Officer Darrell Hale was involved in an incident at a Piggly Wiggly store where excessive force was used against a suspect, Antonio Scott. Hale, along with two other officers, deployed tasers multiple times during Scott’s arrest, leading to serious injuries. An internal investigation found that Hale violated the department’s Taser Policy and Use of Force Policy. As a result, he was terminated from his position in January 2011.
