In December 2006, Officer Oaks was involved in the arrest of Thomas Olson, during which Olson was tased multiple times while handcuffed and on the ground. Olson filed a lawsuit alleging excessive force, resulting in a jury awarding him $500,000 in damages. However, this verdict was later overturned by a judge citing qualified immunity for the officers involved.
