Mary Miller, former superintendent of Sitka National Historical Park, filed a lawsuit alleging gender and race discrimination after her termination by the National Park Service. She was reassigned to a new position in 2010, refused the assignment, and was subsequently fired. Miller’s lawsuit, filed in 2016, sought damages for back wages and attorney fees.
