    Former Officer Rene Helton filed an Equal Employment Opportunity Commission complaint in August 2024, alleging she was terminated after refusing sexual advances from Police Chief Darryl Albert. Internal documents revealed that prior to her termination, Helton had been investigated for multiple incidents, including making false allegations against superior officers. While her claims against Chief Albert were under investigation, the city maintained that her termination was unrelated to those allegations.
