In September 2010, Officer Aaron Lewis of the Carson City Alternative Sentencing Department was accused of falsely imprisoning a female charge and coercing her into exposing her body under threat of arrest. The lawsuit alleged that Lewis conducted a purported drug test late at night, claimed the results were positive, and used this as leverage to intimidate the woman into compliance. A subsequent internal investigation was conducted, and Lewis was placed on paid administrative leave. The lawsuit sought damages exceeding $20,000 for severe emotional and mental distress caused by the incidents.

Why This Matters

By organizing this data, we can potentially demonstrate when officers were previously aware of laws they later claim ignorance of, challenging qualified immunity defenses and promoting accountability.
