Former Officer Adam Coy was convicted of murder, reckless homicide, and felonious assault for the December 2020 shooting death of Andre Hill, an unarmed Black man. Coy mistook Hill’s keys for a gun and shot him four times. Following the incident, Coy was fired from the department, and the city implemented ‘Andre’s Law,’ requiring officers to render immediate medical aid to injured suspects. The city also settled with Hill’s family for $10 million.
