In 2022, former Kennebunk police officer Andrew Belisle was indicted on charges of sexually abusing a minor. The allegations involved multiple incidents between 2019 and 2020. In February 2025, prosecutors filed new, more severe charges, including a Class A count of gross sexual assault, which carries a potential sentence of up to 30 years in prison. Belisle retired from the Kennebunk Police Department as a sergeant in April 2020 after approximately 45 years in law enforcement.
