In June 2022, Deputy Andrew Buen fatally shot 22-year-old Christian Glass, who was experiencing a mental health crisis and had called 911 for assistance after his car became stuck. Despite Glass not posing a direct threat, Buen escalated the situation, leading to Glass’s death. In February 2025, Buen was convicted of criminally negligent homicide and faces up to three years in prison. This case resulted in a $19 million settlement with Glass’s family and prompted changes in police training protocols.
