In July 2014, Officer Andrew Reid assaulted Wassillie Gregory during an arrest, repeatedly slamming him to the ground and using pepper spray. Reid was charged with misdemeanor assault and misconduct, pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to four months in jail. Gregory’s conviction was vacated, and he received a $175,000 settlement from the city. Reid was subsequently fired from the Bethel Police Department.
