On May 11, 2022, Officer Mahmood assisted Officer Maggard in arresting a 47-year-old woman without probable cause and in retaliation for her protected speech. She helped handcuff the complainant and failed to complete a required use of force report. The incident was captured on the complainant’s home security camera. The disorderly conduct charge against the woman was later dismissed. Following an investigation by the New York State Attorney General’s Law Enforcement Misconduct Investigative Office, disciplinary action was recommended. Officer Mahmood has since left the Niagara Falls Police Department and is now an officer with the Town of Niagara Police Department.
