In December 2019, Deputy Anthony Deleo was involved in a traffic stop where he used excessive force against Christopher Butler. Deleo struck Butler 19 times with a baton and kicked him twice in the head while Butler was on the ground. This incident was captured on video. Deleo was subsequently fired from the Sheriff’s Office and charged with aggravated battery, a second-degree felony.
