    On August 31, 2019, Officer Argel Sierra assaulted a man who was legally recording a police encounter. Sierra tased and punched the individual multiple times without justification. Following the incident, Sierra was placed on administrative leave, and investigations by the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation and the Mills Police Department concluded his actions were improper. Sierra pleaded guilty to a felony count of deprivation of rights under color of law and was sentenced to five years of probation and ordered to pay restitution. Additionally, the Town of Mills and Sierra settled a civil lawsuit with the victim for $190,000. Sierra was also criminally convicted for assaulting the victim.
