Detective Ashley Wood was terminated in July 2023 after an internal investigation concluded she lied during a murder investigation, leading to charges being dropped against a suspect who had been jailed for over a year. In May 2024, Wood was indicted on multiple counts of perjury and violation of oath of office. She appealed her termination, and the Civil Service Board reinstated her to a lower civilian position within the city.
