In March 2022, Patrol Lieutenant Basil Trepagnier was arrested and charged with malfeasance in office and criminal conspiracy after detectives discovered his involvement in illegal drug activity. While on duty, Trepagnier was observed at a residence known for narcotics distribution, where he obtained illegal drugs. He was terminated from the Sheriff’s Office following the investigation.
