Former Sheriff Bob Edwards faced revocation of his peace officer and coroner’s certifications by the Montana Peace Officers Standards and Training Council after a 2017 arrest for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend. Edwards appealed the decision, and in February 2020, a mutual agreement was finalized, reinstating his certifications with the condition that he would not seek law enforcement employment requiring certification until January 1, 2024.
