Officer Brandon Helmers was accused of using excessive force during the arrest of a homeless man, Devin Ledbetter, in December 2020. Ledbetter claimed Helmers slammed him onto concrete, resulting in severe injuries. A federal jury was deadlocked in the excessive force lawsuit against Helmers in October 2023.
