On June 13, 2020, Officer Brandon Reynolds was videotaped restraining Spencer Nice by placing his arm around Nice’s neck and bringing him to the ground, just 30 hours after the Anderson Police Department had banned chokeholds. The Board of Public Safety later cleared Reynolds of wrongdoing, determining he did not violate the department’s code of conduct or use improper force.
