In 2008, Sheriff Brent Oleson suspended Deputy Jeremy Haske for alleged misconduct, leading to litigation, including two lawsuits filed by Haske against Oleson. The cases involved disputes over the suspension and related matters. Additionally, in 2007, Oleson was involved in a controversy regarding the recording of telephone lines within the sheriff’s department without employees’ knowledge. Investigations revealed that certain lines were recorded, and Oleson had inquired about recording additional lines. The district attorney concluded that no illegal activity occurred, and the case was closed.
