Deputy Brian Beck was involved in an incident during the 2013 Jordan Valley Big Loop Rodeo where Malheur County sheriff’s deputies conducted an illegal traffic stop on Steve Hindi, founder of Showing Animals Respect and Kindness (SHARK). The stop was allegedly ordered by the rodeo board and involved intimidation, police brutality, and unauthorized access to personal information. Dashcam footage revealed deputies expressing concern about potential lawsuits and acknowledging the stop was recorded. In 2014, Malheur County settled a civil rights lawsuit filed by Hindi, paying $12,500 for the illegal stop.
