In January 2020, Deputy Brian Houtsinger discovered a marijuana growing operation during a visit to a Kenosha apartment but failed to report it, telling the resident ‘he was never there.’ In March 2020, during a traffic stop, Houtsinger confiscated a bag containing pills and other items but did not log the evidence. Subsequent searches of his squad car revealed a vape pen, counterfeit $1 bills, a mason jar with marijuana, small plastic bags, and a digital scale. Houtsinger was charged with misconduct and possession of THC.
