In 2007, Officer Caleb Horner was terminated after his wife, Misty Horner, died at home following a month-long illness without receiving medical attention. Despite pleas from colleagues and family, Horner relied solely on prayer for her healing. After her death, he was dismissed for failing to contact the medical examiner upon the first sign of death. Horner later sued the city, alleging his termination was due to his religious beliefs.
