In May 2014, Sheriff Cameron Noel was alleged to have assaulted Timothy Scott Wilson by placing both hands around his neck during an arrest at a homicide scene. Witnesses, including deputies Cody Allen and Steven Kline, reported observing the incident. However, the Utah Peace Officer Standards and Training Council (POST) concluded there was insufficient evidence to pursue charges. The FBI conducted an investigation, but no charges were filed. Wilson filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against Noel, which was dismissed in February 2017 due to inactivity.
