Cpl. Chad Bean has been on paid administrative leave for 11 months due to allegations of abusing the department’s sick time policy. An independent investigation substantiated these allegations, and the city is proceeding with the disciplinary process. Bean, through his union attorney, denies any wrongdoing and disputes the findings of the investigation. Colleagues noted changes in his behavior following a relationship with a subordinate and involvement in a fatal shooting in 2019.
