    In October 2016, Deputy Chad Schiermeier was arrested after discrepancies were found in the Police Activities League (PAL) account he managed. PAL is a national non-profit dedicated to preventing juvenile crime and violence. Schiermeier, who served as a resource officer at Wood River Middle School, was found guilty of felony grand theft in September 2017. His sentencing was scheduled for November 7, 2017.
