On January 18, 2022, Officer Charles Hansford was involved in an incident where he slammed a handcuffed man into a wall at the Leon County Detention Facility. This occurred after a heated verbal exchange following a DUI arrest. Hansford was immediately placed on administrative leave and subsequently terminated for failing to adhere to TPD’s policies and procedures. A criminal investigation into the incident was initiated.
