On May 3, 2020, Sheriff Charles Lemon ordered Deputy David Andrew Cook to deploy a Taser on detainee Jarrel Lee Johnson at the Marlboro County Detention Center. Lemon instructed Cook to continue activating the Taser multiple times after the initial deployment, targeting Johnson’s chest and leg. This assault was deemed likely to produce great bodily injury or death. As a result, Lemon was indicted on charges of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and misconduct in office. Governor Henry McMaster suspended Lemon from office following the indictment.

Our Mission

We're building a comprehensive database of police interactions to promote accountability and transparency in law enforcement.

  • View the Blog: Read about documented police interactions
  • Share Your Experience: Submit your own police interaction story
  • Browse the Forums: Check if your local law enforcement has been documented

Important Community Guidelines

It is strictly against our rules to:

  • Make threats of any kind
  • Share private information such as personal emails, home addresses, or phone numbers

Why This Matters

By organizing this data, we can potentially demonstrate when officers were previously aware of laws they later claim ignorance of, challenging qualified immunity defenses and promoting accountability.
