In February 2024, DNA Analyst Chiara Wuensch was terminated after an internal investigation revealed anomalies in her case work. She violated the Weld County Code and the sheriff’s office standards of conduct by not cooperating with the internal investigation. The sheriff’s office intends to pursue criminal charges against Wuensch for the alleged anomalies, with the criminal investigation still ongoing.
