In 2008, Chief Lonzo Ingram was named in a lawsuit alleging that he failed to prevent or address widespread abuse and misconduct within the Greenville Police Department. The plaintiff claimed that Ingram’s inaction led to a culture of excessive force and constitutional violations. The court found that the plaintiff failed to demonstrate a causal connection between Ingram’s conduct and the alleged constitutional violations, granting him summary judgment.
