Former Deputy Christian Phillip Heidecker, 32, pleaded guilty in February 2024 to 13 felony counts, including four each of extortion, bribery, and dissuading a witness, as well as one count of engaging in a sex act as a detention officer. Heidecker exploited his position by compelling women under house arrest to send him sexually explicit material in exchange for preferential treatment. He is scheduled to be sentenced to five years in prison. Several civil suits have been filed against Heidecker and the department, alleging sexual assault and coercion.
