In June 2022, Lieutenant Christopher Geise was accused of using a taser repeatedly and unnecessarily on pretrial detainee Richard Harris at the Juneau County Jail. Harris alleged that Geise’s actions violated his constitutional rights. The case proceeded to court, where it was determined that Harris had exhausted his administrative remedies, and genuine disputes of material fact existed regarding Geise’s use of the taser. As a result, the case was set to proceed to trial.
