In 2021, Officer Christopher Taylor was indicted for murder in connection with an on-duty shooting. A mistrial was declared in May 2023 due to issues selecting a jury, and the trial was reset for October 2023. Taylor is reportedly the first Austin officer to be charged with murder for on-duty conduct.
