Sergeant Christopher Thompson was terminated from the Charleston Police Department in 2012 due to allegations of dereliction of duty. He appealed his termination to the Charleston Police Civil Service Commission, but after multiple delays and his failure to attend a scheduled hearing in October 2020, his appeal was dismissed. The West Virginia Supreme Court upheld this dismissal in October 2022.
