Former officer Corey Posey pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice in November 2023 after two mistrials. In August 2018, Posey filed a false report omitting details of fellow officer Chase Winkle’s use of excessive force during an arrest, which resulted in the suspect sustaining a fractured jaw and broken nose. Posey resigned from the Muncie Police Department in October 2023. His plea agreement includes one year of probation and three months of home detention, along with a prohibition on future law enforcement employment.
