On January 23, 2022, Corporal Marcoux arrested a young woman for allegedly operating her mother’s car without permission. During the arrest, the suspect, while handcuffed, spat at Marcoux multiple times. In response, Marcoux placed his arm forcibly on the suspect’s neck and jaw. Chittenden County State’s Attorney Sarah George concluded there was probable cause to believe Marcoux committed simple assault and requested the Vermont State Police to cite him; however, the State Police declined. A ‘Giglio’ letter was issued, indicating potential credibility issues for future court proceedings.
