In 2015, Corporal Uemura was involved in the arrest of a juvenile, J.R., at a school in Kailua. Uemura filed a report alleging that J.R. had criminally harassed his son, leading to J.R.’s arrest without prior parental notification, which violated department policy. The lawsuit alleged that Uemura knowingly provided false information in an official report, constituting a conflict of interest. An administrative investigation resulted in disciplinary action against Uemura. As of the report, he remained assigned to District 4 (Windward Oahu) Patrol with 21 years of service.
