On January 17, 2019, Corporal Wells was present during an incident where inmate Rettew showed clear signs of medical distress, including vomiting, shaking, and hallucinating. Corporal Wells did not ensure that Rettew received immediate medical attention. As a result of the investigation into the incident, Corporal Wells was demoted for not following jail policy in handling Rettew’s condition.
